Announcement in the Service of the Public

Hello members, lurkers, and passers-by, and welcome to the pre-opening PSA.

It's been very quiet here and we felt it was past time to drop some knowledge. The game's opening has been in limbo for a while as we debated waiting to garner more attention or just opening and going full steam ahead with a very small group. At last head count the party consists of mods Ellis and Ollie, apped members Mil, Wings, and Spazzy, and two or three people who have reported an interest in applying/are actively working on applications. That is a very small group indeed! We're willing to go forth and make that work, because we figure even some small game action is better than nothing. It'll be cozy and probably a bit slow, but hopefully we can make the most of it! The setting has plenty to offer after all.

In the next day or two there'll be a pre-opening post from one of the mod characters, who will be arriving about a month before everyone else starts trickling in, and will thus have time to get established and be sort of a beacon for new characters when they arrive. Keep an eye out for that if you want to see how that goes down. And on Sunday the 25th, we'll open properly.

To start things off, there will be a communal open-to-all post, since characters will essentially all be arriving around the same time (at least in this first wave). Players can request to engage with NPCs, though at this early stage we'd really like to encourage forming character relationships immediately so players can start building plots around them. We have a small but very interesting spread of folks so it shouldn't be too difficult to get them interacting in neat ways.

And that's about that for now! Feel free to ask questions here or just say hi and introduce yourself to the little family. Thank you for putting your faith in this little baby game and for your patience as we sort this stuff out!

P.S. If you have not already done so, we highly recommend tracking this community. Most games operate via Plurk, but we're outliers and should not be counted and will be doing all the community updates here, so it's a good idea to watch this space for announcements!

Just to kick things off here, hi everyone, I'm Ellis, I'll be playing this OC and at least one other person, though that's a bit up in the air right now. The best way to reach me is on AIM, where I am usually online (user name woodironbone). I am very anxious but very friendly.

Iman is not only an OC but she's being brought in with CRAU from another very small game, so she's going to have a LOT of baggage at the outset. You can expect her to be drunk and belligerent. She'll also probably flirt with you but don't worry, she doesn't want it to go anywhere anymore than you do.

She has a prosthetic arm which she designed herself by which she does a lot of magical weird fake-science things. Plans for her in this game include selling her soul to get a nice apartment, messing around with the scientific corners of Rapture, and, let's be real, probably trying to start her own revolution.

Hello hello, I am Ollie, the other half of the mod squad and I am currently a bit drunk. I can be contacted on AIM at elusiveollie and I'm usually online. I'm very bad at remembering to reach out and say hello to people but I am getting better at that I promise.

I'll be bringing y'all two characters: Tim Wright of a obscure piece of web fiction called Marble Hornets and Nicholas Rush of Stargate Universe fame. The former will be wary and sad and taciturn while the latter will be cold and sarcastic and Scottish. Rush has a bit of CRAU with Iman Asadi as SCIENCE BROS but basically if anyone is sufficiently smart and interesting that'll be enough to attract his attention for better or for worse.

We will be small but mighty. let's do this

Waves hand gently?

My name is Xep, and I am one personality section away from bringing in my OC Jamie Dodger (like the cookie) and one entire app away from Kyle Fitzpatrick. Both native to the Bioshock universe, because Bioshock has been my life since I first played it about a year and a half ago. Kyle is a stylish extrovert who will flirt with everyone, Dodger is more of a morose shy guy who will mostly stick to a few people if anyone.

As for me, I don't really use AIM but my plurk is -> [plurk.com profile] xep_lag. I am very approachable but not always tactful? But I try my best. And... oh man I want this game to succeed so much. I have high hopes. >u

Oh man I am excited for both your fellas. "Flirts with everone" and "morose shy guy" are my two character speeds. I'm so glad you found us! I hope it takes off too - but in the meantime I'm lookin forward to whatever threads we can swing with a tiny group.

Hopefully no one minds that by "morose shy guy" I actually mean "extremely violent angry man that keeps to himself so that he doesn't cause other people problems" because at this point that's an accurate description of most of my characters.

And hopefully Dodger's aggressive attitude doesn't scare people away from joining, sweats.

I think in a setting like Rapture it's gonna have to be taken as rote that a lot of people are gonna be aggressive assholes. Plus they make things more interesting. Iman is going to h a t e Dodger... and latch onto that fragile masculinity as fast as she can. I'm pretty excited about it.
